Jesus touch me
JULY 2010

I have amazing opportunities to visit, minister and pray for people every day in hospitals, senior’s residences and care institutions. People just like you and I who need one touch and glimmer of hope. How many times have I walked in and seen a person’s Bible open to a powerful scripture, a crumpled tissue beside their bed or clutched in their hand as a remnant of their built altar where at some point hours before, they reached out and touched the hand of Jesus. Nothing seemed as important, significant or meaningful quite like those precious moments as they had God’s undivided attention.
Let me speak into your spirit to hasten you and let you know that whatever you’re going through, whatever life has thrown at you, problems, issues and turmoil, all you need is just one touch from the Master’s hand. The hand that will raise you up, lift you up, take you from defeat to victory, make you the head and not the tail, and turn you from a victim into a victor.
Even in a dangerous land when storms threaten to destroy you, remember at the cross we stand and upon the rock is our strength, our hope, our joy. He will turn your “lose” to “win”, he will take your wrong and make it right!
Just one touch from the hand of Jesus, let Him touch you today...

New Year..."NuYu"
FRIDAY, JANUARY 8, 2010 • 4PM
WALKING A BEACH SOMETIME AGO, I distinctly remember the sun setting, and the day closed as though it were the back cover of a well-read book; I looked behind me, and saw my footprints in the sand. There were several sets of footprints, and a few drawings etched in the sand that added to this shoreline collage. A few moments had passed, and then gently a wave rolled in and erased all the footprints and artwork, creating a “brand new” slate, once again to be molded, marked and manicured.
2010 is upon us, similar to one of the waves that mysteriously rolled upon the sands of that well-traveled beach. You as an individual may have suffered disappointments, setbacks, and deferrals in your own life, and ambitions from years gone by. But now it’s a New Year and it’s time for a “NuYu”!
You have the ability to recognize in your life where you may have temporarily been “delayed”; but this year you will not be “denied”. Forget the things that are behind you, and “reach” to the things that are before you (Phil. 3:13).
Realign your goals, ambitions, and divine connections, maintaining the attitude that with Christ “all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26), and if God be for you, who would dare to be against you?! (Rom. 8:31) Most people do not wake up in the morning and say “let me see how I can fail today”! Instead ask yourself… “How can I succeed today?”!!!!
Understanding that I too am a work in progress, being perfected in Christ as a work of grace, I remind myself daily to take time to be courteous to others, make new friends, enlarge your circle, be gracious in your areas of influence, be encouraging, forgive daily & pray often.
Determine that this New Year will see a NuYu centered in the love of Christ, so by the time this year is erased as the powder sands on a shoreline, you’ll be able to say… “Look at me now!” The NuYu, a work of God’s grace!
On behalf of my wonderful wife Cindy, and my little girl Brianna, may this year be your best year yet! Happy New Year! You are loved!
With love & great gratitude, Pastor Tom

Let me take a moment of your valuable time to let you know what’s been on my heart lately. I truly believe we are amazingly “called” to things, situations, relationships, careers. But I have always noticed and admired the dedication and calling of those involved in the “medical” field. You see, it takes an extremely special person to do what you do, whatever your employment and calling is, because nobody can do what you do like you do it, when you get ready to do it!
I spend my time, as though it were, daily visiting hospitals, convalescent homes and rehab centers, those of our beloved congregation as people who find themselves recovering from illness that may have “temporarily” affected their body or mind. My focus today however is on those who offer the care, concern, and treatments to those in need.
The dedication, care, concern, and calling that nurses, nurses aids, caregivers, doctors, medical assistants, and every worker delivering food, medicine, and services to patients is admirable, and today I salute you! I hold you up in prayer and encourage you to press in and press on, we are counting on you as you extend your hands of care.
As I walk through the halls of hospitals throughout this city and beyond, I utter under my breath “Speak Lord, speak Lord…lift both patient and those that are giving the care to higher heights, plant their feet on the firm foundation, Christ Jesus!” From every tear that falls from every eye of every patient, you in the healthcare field are an extended hand of care and love. You are an ear when there is no one else to listen, you are a smile to every patient that needs that glimmer of hope. You are, for most part, the first person that a patient meets at the dawning of a new day that brings an expectation of a speedy recovery to every patient’s heart. You are today’s heroes!
As every occupation is, in its own right required and respected, I just wanted to take a moment and shine a spotlight on every person that is in any way connected to the medical profession and say, you have my appreciation, prayers, love, and great gratitude for simply “being there”.
THANK YOU!
With love & respect,
Pastor Tom
Can we talk?
WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 2009 • 4PM
We need to first have you understand that “in you is a well of living water” that wants to and needs to spring up within your mind, spirit, soul and body. Christ and the spirit of God becomes the living water waiting to come forth in every area of this arena called “life”.
In every decision process there are “ramifications” or “results”. We spoke briefly last month of “off the cuff” decisions, but it is not those light decisions I’m concerned about. Whether or not you use cinnamon or peppermint toothpaste probably will not have a riveting affect on your life. However, decisions such as your choice of higher education, your choice of employment, your choice of who to marry and when, your choice of “place of worship”, these are the earth moving decisions we need to discuss, and sometimes I refer to as “the process" or "due diligence”.
In all your decisions:
(1) Was a decision carefully thought through?
(2) Was there enough resource available to make a qualified decision regarding a specific matter?
(3) What does “it” look like in 2, 3, 4 years down the road, based on the decisions made today?
(4) Was “prayer” a part of the decision process and a connection made in the Spirit realm?
(5) Is there a sense of “contentment” regarding the decision that is made today?
While speaking to many people and consoling their heartbreaks, issues and problems, I always make mention that “regret” is a terrible and unforgiving world to live in. With everyone there are those times of regret, however take a deep breath and take note that life is made up of experiences, and to avoid the unpleasantness and regret, create a self imposed list of check valves based on who you are and who Christ is in you, that will facilitate you in every decision you make.
The Word of God says “as a man thinketh, so is he”. It’s now time to rise up and know who you are and who Christ is in you, seize this day with a firm understanding of your decision process which will lead you to a greater tomorrow.
Loving you,
Pastor Tom
Decisions that change your tomorrow by shaping your today
FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2009 • 3:42PM
In my own personal life, much like yours, I’m faced with a sea of decisions. Decisions on a yearly, monthly, weekly, daily, and minute by minute basis, that will make you, break you and even sometimes mold you and teach you. What do I “say” right now to an issue I’m facing, how do I react to this never ending process of “deciding”? I looked into my little girl's bright and glowing eyes as she sat on my knee asking to watch a Dora video and bargaining with me for a piece of chocolate or a marshmallow, of which I wanted to give neither to her. These were the decisions and dilemmas that were impacting her as a three- year young little girl. I thought that the problems that she will face in time to come will no doubt concern me greatly and I want to make sure that I will be there for her successes but also with arms out stretched and words of encouragement when life doesn’t go as she wanted.
The people and influences that you have around you become a vital part of your decision process and typically your mindset. There is no doubt in my spirit and mind that through every decision you have made or are going to make, you’ve spent a great deal of time in prayer and thought. The support group you have around you that truly care for your success would be a tremendous asset to your process of making your next vital decision. Some decisions can be casual and some can be “off the cuff”, however it is those earth-moving decisions that I’m concerned about. The decisions that change your tomorrow by shaping your today. Based on your experience, influence and “can you handle the tomorrow” with regards to the decision you’re making today? Whatever you do, don’t minimize the affect, direction an outcome that “prayer” has on any decision you make, now or in the future.
It is true, “prayer changes things”, and it can even change your mind when you spend some time shut away to talk to someone who really and truly cares for your todays and your tomorrows. Jesus said, “I will never leave you and I’ll never forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5b). When others do, Jesus won’t! Jesus continues to say, “I’ll be with you always”, now there’s some comforting words through my decision process and I guarantee you those words will bring you into peace when it’s your turn to make a vital decision.
If you’re faced with a crisis, staring at a shattered dream now a nightmare, emotional distress with your children, marriage, relationship, finances, and the prospect that tomorrow won’t be as you once planned, take a moment, regroup and understand that God is going to get you through this issue, situation and for some, this mess you now face! Keep in mind that God's plan and favour is on “your life” and He has an amazing destiny that was designed just for you! What ever you do… Trust God and DON’T GIVE UP!!!
Good people, making bad decisions, it happens all the time. Let’s turn this thing around!
Don’t miss my next blog, “Can we talk?” coming in a few weeks.

And Jesus Saw Your Faith
FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2009 • 2PM
The story of the palsy man in Mark 2 tells of a man in a desperate situation, who realized that the answer was in Jesus, and determined in his mind to stop at nothing until he reached the feet of his Lord; know that he was going to need some help along the way. You may find yourself with a problem in your life, a perplexing situation that you have never encountered before. Each one of us has been sick at some point in our lives or reached a point when we needed someone to be there for us! When the going gets tough, the tough get going to prayer! You may need someone to pray for you, but not just anyone, someone who knows how to pray and reach the throne room of Almighty God on your behalf. You see those people were where you are and they came through it and so will you!
Do you feel like you are always taking care of other people and feel as though no one is interceding for you? You need to develop a community of people, a community of faith around yourself. As the palsy man had four people around him to carry him, you need to build up a group of people around you, to support you, to share the burden, to lift you up! You have carried people before, now it’s your time and it’s your turn to be carried through the season you’re in or the problem you’re facing. Sometimes we need a friend, or group of friends, to carry us! The palsy man would have died a palsy man, alone and crippled on the streets if he did not have those four men to carry him and take him to Jesus. Don’t be discouraged if you keep falling in your walk. Determine in your mind today to build a community of faith to strengthen you. The story of the palsy man shows that sometimes you can’t do it on your own; you need others to bear your burden and take you to the feet of Jesus! You need to surround yourself with people who aren’t going to give up; they will do whatever it takes to get you to Jesus! They need to have faith for your issue, someone that will agree with you for your situation, some one to bear your burden. So don’t give up now, you’ve come too far by faith NOT to persevere to the end!
The biggest problem in your faith may be your discouragement, your issues, your set backs. Your faith must exceed discouragement! The “test” of your faith is will it endure discouragement? The Word of God speaks clearly to you and me in saying “let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Gal 6:9).” Now is not the time to pass out or collapse. Hebrews 12 explains that there are a cloud of witnesses looking down on you from heaven saying “Run the race!” and don’t give in, keep the faith! Where there is a miracle in your life, you can expect opposition! Now is not the time to give up! Your miracle is waiting for you at the feet of Jesus. But Jesus needs to see your faith, for the Bible says in Mark 2:5 “when Jesus saw their faith”, it was then that He was moved to do something for them! What are you doing that Jesus can SEE? What are you doing to let Jesus know your faith is in HIM, and not in your circumstance!
This is your time to be strengthened! God’s eyes are on you. He sees your struggle, your frustration, and your point of giving up. Now is not the time to give up! We are always in need of God and all that He has in store for us. You have to be strong! Remember the Word of God where Paul declares, “Finally my brother, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” You’re strong in God; you’re not strong in anything else! You’re strong in the blood of Jesus! You’re strong in the name of Jesus!
Just because you currently have a cloud over you, does not mean that there is a storm. It’s when the clouds begin to gather that we have to watch out and prepare ourselves to call on heaven along with our community of faith that we have built around us.
Love & Great Gratitude,
Pastor Tom
It's 2009, WHAT NOW?
THURSDAY, JANUARY 8, 2009 • 10PM
Have you ever counted during a specific week how many people ask you what your New Year’s resolutions are? How many times have you heard people say,” I’m going to drop 15 pounds this year, I’m going to start exercising, I’m going to call a friend, get married, stop smoking, stop drinking, start school” etc etc. The list goes on and on! It’s true; you should pay particular attention to parts of your life! For Christians the list could read like the above line, but add “Talk to my Saviour, read the Word, read one more chapter per week than last year, perhaps fast & pray a day here and there”. This year see it in the spiritual first and things will begin to happen in the physical realm.
I know you have been paying attention to the critical position that planet earth is in politically, financially, socially, physically and most of all spiritually. We’re in need of a turnaround or simply small direction changes that over time would amount to a significant change!
This year don’t forget to make an altar, you know the altar and time you use to give God when the going got tough. When you were struggling with issues and situations, you always made an altar and talked to God about it. You see God hasn’t changed, He’s still listening, waiting for you to have those heart to heart talks with Him. We use to tell God everything, our pressures, relationships, issues, health problems but “What Now?” The people of power in the Word of God knew how to build an altar, knew where and when to build their altar. You see an altar is a place where you let go and let God take control, it’s a place of renewal and sacrifice. Your altar is your time well spent talking to God, like you would your best of friends.
What Now! God can only do what you let Him do; God is ready, willing and able! The rest is up to you! Take this month and make the appropriate steps towards “your destiny”. Seek God and then take action!
Love & Great Gratitude,
Pastor Tom
It's Time to Armour Up
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2008 • 1PM
One day a police officer saw a grey pickup truck speeding through a red light. “This crazy guy must be late for work”, he thought to himself. The police officer flipped on every emergency light the squad car had, radioed in for backup and informed them he was in high speed pursuit of a potentially stolen vehicle. After a few blocks, the pickup pulled over to the side of the road and the officer approached the vehicle with some caution. As the police approached the vehicle, the driver thought, “They already know!”
 |
The once brave driver now sat scared in his truck. He felt the cold steel of the gun beside him, the same gun that just 15 minutes ago he used to knock over a jewellery store on Main Street. The bag of gold, wrist watches & diamond rings was tucked deep into his coat. The police officer approached the driver and said with a firm voice, “Driving a bit fast weren’t you sir? May I see your driver’s lice…” He never had a chance to finish his demand. The driver of the truck had jammed that same gun into the chest of the police officer and fired at point blank range.
The police officer fell to the ground with only bruises to his chest. The police officer was saved that day because of several layers of Kevlar woven into a vest that has been designed to stop bullets.
My Christian friend, if satan has been pushing his ways on you (sickness, poverty, discourage-ment, lust, envy, malice, strife etc.) then it’s time to get “dressed up!” You need to put satan where he belongs, UNDER YOUR FEET! Satan is a defeated foe, you need to know and understand that fact. Please make sure “you put on the whole armour of God”, which will serve as your spiritual bullet proof vest, to protect you from satan and his destructive ways. Your “armour of God” will defeat satan every time!
TIME TO ARMOUR UP!
